Resident Artist James McVinnie and producer/composer Tristan Perich present Infinity Gradient, merging primitive electronic waveforms with the sonic magnitude of the organ.
Infinity Gradient, scored for solo organ and 100 speakers in 1-bit audio, is an hour-long musical tour-de-force through Perich’s sound-world.
Written for McVinnie in 2021, it is a grand symphony in all but name, comprising eight continuous movements.
This groundbreaking work offers a unique exploration of the pipe organ’s relationship to synthesis in music and vice versa, of long-form musical structure, and of how sound fits in an architectural space.
