It may be you went to conservatoire but life ended up taking you in a different direction, or that you have honed your skills as an amateur player or singer, or that you are a professional musician looking for a fresh challenge and the opportunity to learn new techniques.
Or maybe you’re just after a fun opportunity to work with like-minded people on your musicianship at a satisfying, high level.
No experience of improvisation is required, but you will need to be open to giving it a go! Dovetail Music Workshops, led by Dr Jonathan James, are about exploring different ways of creating music together, often taking a 'source piece' as inspiration.
In the morning we work on collaborative creative skills and cross-stylistic improvisation in a series of fun exercises.
In the afternoon we unpack a famous score (in this case, Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring) and you will be led through co-devising a response to it in small and large groups, with an informal sharing to end the day. Themes to explore include modes, world rhythms and modern harmony.
Apply by Saturday 16th September.
